The Arsenal midfielder Marcelo Flores announced the most important decision of his life on Monday. The player rejected the Canada and England national teams to play with the Mexican National Team.

"Today I write with my heart and wish to communicate something that I have some time knowing internally and that I think it is important that you hear it from me directly: I will represent the Mexican National Team for the rest of my career as a professional," Flores wrote.

The fact of being called up by Gerardo Martino is latent, but he is clear that he must follow the process that every player goes through.

"Continue training as I have always done. My career is just beginning and I have a lot of work ahead of me. Do I want to go to the World Cup? Sure. What Mexican kid doesn't dream of going to a World Cup? But I recognize that I am not the one who decides that," Flores said.

His father's influence on his final decision

"My father has instilled in me this passion for his country from a very young age and I was fortunate enough to visit Mexico every year during my childhood. Although I have had the opportunity to represent several countries, I have always chosen to return to the Mexican National Team camps. That is no coincidence," Flores added.

"Mexico has given me and my sisters the opportunity to feel at home even though our "home" is thousands of miles away," she stated.
