At Spurs, he shared a dressing room with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric - two players who later became Real Madrid legends.
Goalkeeper Gomes was even signed alongside Modric at Spurs, as well as Giovani Dos Santos, while Bale joined a year before.
In total, the goalkeeper played with the two in north London for four years before Modric left for Real Madrid, with Bale leaving a year later for a world-record £85million fee.
But the Brazil squad is boundless when it comes to talent and in his seven years with the Selecao from 2003 to 2010, he met some true football icons.
When talkSPORT asked who was the best player he has worked with, Gomes was diplomatic despite having played with Bale and Modric at Tottenham and went for his international pal Ronaldinho.

The Samba superstar's dancing feet have made him a fan's favourite across the world - with his fellow players also recognising his brilliance.
The lists of elite superstars falling over themselves to praise the Brazilian go on for miles, such as Lionel Messi who said: "In the first year, he didn't win anything, but people fell in love with him.
"Then the trophies started coming and he made all those people happy. Barca should always be grateful for everything he did."

It might then be no surprise to see Gomes pick him over Bale and Modric, who have won shedloads of trophies at Real Madrid with 38 between them from their time at the Bernabeu.
Modric also picked up the Ballon d'Or in 2018 and is renowned as one of the best midfielders of all time, taking underdogs Croatia to the World Cup final that year in Russia.
Meanwhile, Bale's legendary goal at the 2018 Champions League final will live on in the memory forever and his international exploits cannot be understated either, helping Wales to their first World Cup in 64 years at the 2022 competition.
