Christian Eriksen transfer deadline made clear as Man Utd wait on decision

A clutch of Premier League clubs including Manchester United are interested in a deal for Christian Eriksen - and a deadline for him to decide his next move is set

Brentford manager Thomas Frank claims Christian Eriksen will decide his next move within the next two weeks, with the playmaker also a target for Manchester United.

The Denmark international's contract in West London expires at the end of June after a successful spell with the Bees. The former Inter Milan man was offered a deal by Brentford in January having left Inter Milan as a consequence of the heart attack he suffered at Euro 2020.

Despite initial concerns over his fitness, Eriksen proved to be pivotal for Frank's troops as they secured their Premier League status - eventually finishing 13th in the top flight.

Eriksen, 30, scored a goal and provided four assists for the Bees during the half-season he played at the Brentford Community Stadium, with those performances catching the eye of rivals. Whilst the Bees are keen to keep him, United have emerged as suitors.

It was also suggested that former club Tottenham could be in the running to bring him back, but they have cooled their interest as they prioritise other deals. Amid the question marks over Eriksen's future, Brentford boss Frank has suggested that, in an ideal world, the midfielder will make a decision on his next club within the fortnight.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, per Sport Witness, he said: "I do not know [what Eriksen will decide]. I know we still have a chance and I hope he will make a decision in two weeks. The agreement is that he will call me and tell me what he wants to do. He hasn't decided yet."

Frank also explained how he managed to convince his compatriot to sign for Brentford in the first place. He opened up on his chat with his son that gave him the inspiration to offer the midfielder a chance to get back into football with Brentford.

He added: "I coached Eriksen in the youth ranks in Denmark. In October, my son called me: 'Dad, why don't you contact Christian? He has to play football again.'

"I called Eriksen in December and asked him if he would consider playing football again at Brentford and he replied: 'Funny thing is I thought of you too.' I never had any doubts that he would come back to a good level and now I hope we can retain him."

Whilst the Red Devils remain in the running for Eriksen, it appears they are edging towards making their first signing of the window. United officials are understood to have flown to Amsterdam to thrash out a deal with Ajax for Brazilian winger Antony.

The Red Devils are willing to pay up to £40million for the wideman, with Erik ten Hag hoping to quickly reunite with his former player.
