Antonio Conte hints at more Tottenham signings amid clear transfer plan

Tottenham Hotspur have been busy in the transfer market already, but Antonio Conte has suggested there's more to come.

Spurs have already acted quickly to bring in five senior players. Former Inter Milan man Ivan Perisic has been reunited with Conte after playing under him in Italy, while Richarlison has arrived from Everton in a deal which could set Spurs back a club-record £60m depending on add-ons.

Yves Bissouma has also joined in a £25m move from Brighton, with goalkeeper Fraser Forster joining on a free and Clement Lenglet arriving on loan from Barcelona. According to Conte, though, the London side might not be finished.

"We signed five players and when the ideas are very clear it's more simple to go into the transfer window and sign the players," Conte told the media during Spurs' pre-season tour of South Korea (via football.london ). "Our plan was very clear about the positions and the roles in which we needed to improve and we did it.

"Now we'll see what happens," he continued. "We are always looking to strengthen the squad if there is the opportunity.

"We want to improve numerically the squad. I repeat to play four competitions is difficult. You need a really good squad, with the numerical aspect and the quality aspect. It will be a tough, really demanding season for us but I'm sure that we want to enjoy this season to play four competitions and try to be competitive in every competition that we are going to play.

"Then we'll see what happens. In two months if there's the possibility to strengthen the squad we'll do it."

Any further business may depend on whether Spurs are able to offload more of their fringe players. Steven Bergwijn has been offloaded to Ajax, with Jack Clarke and Cameron Carter-Vickers also departing, but more sales could follow.

Among those potentially set for a summer exit is Tanguy Ndombele, who joined as a record signing back in 2019. The French international ended last season out on loan at former club Lyon, and has been left out of the tour squad along with Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon.

"Yes, I think it's possible to be happy at Tottenham," Ndombele said after Lyon opted against taking up an option to re-sign him permanently. "Regardless of where you can go, you can be happy or unhappy. We'll see how things go during pre-season. I'm not putting any more pressure on myself than that.

Spurs will begin their pre-season programme on Wednesday with a game against a K League select side in Seoul, before facing Sevilla in Suwon. Further friendlies against Rangers and Roma are set to follow later in the month before Conte's team begin their league campaign at home to Southampton on August 6.
