Andy Robertson opens up on Salah's Liverpool contract stand-off amid exit fears

Andy Robertson hopes that Liverpool can resolve their contract stand-off with "world's best" Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have been desperately trying to extend the Egpytian's deal which runs out in 2023, but an agreement has not been reached yet.

Mirror Online exclusively revealed Salah is looking to become Liverpool's highest-paid player as his agent flew into England earlier this month, but the Reds are wary of breaching their wage structure.

Salah previously said he wants to end his career at Anfield after excelling in the Premier League since his move from Roma.

And Robertson hopes his employers will get a deal over the line as it's imperative the club keep hold of a player of Salah's calibre.

When asked about the current situation, he told Sky Sports : "I hope that I can continue to play with him. I love playing with Mo and I love playing with all the lads around me and you don't want to see anyone leave.

"Let's leave it up to the club and Mo - I'm sure everyone's trying to get to an agreement that can work for everyone.

"Hopefully they can reach a solution because if he's not the world's best, he's definitely in the discussion for it and they're the type of players you want at this club, they're the type of players that the fans at his club deserve. Hopefully, that continues and he can stay for a bit longer."

Salah has been called the best player in the world on current form after his sublime hattrck against Manchester United on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp's stunned their rivals with a 5-0 win at Old Trafford.

That's the tenth game in a row the winger has got on the scoresheet as his blistering start to the season.

And there is no doubt in Robertson's mind that he deserves the "world's best" tag with how he's playing at the moment.

The Scotland captain added: 'He's an incredible player and I think at this moment he's the world's best and he'll want to continue that.

"He won't want it for nine or 10 games, which he's done so far, he'll want to do it for a whole season like he's done previously and hopefully he can do it, because it gives us the best chance of scoring goals and winning trophies."
