The Paris-born forward's frankly ridiculous attacking output would be enough for pretty much any club or country in the world, but not Bayern Munich or France.
Signed from talent factory Rennes in 2022 for £25million, Tel perhaps went a little under the radar with just ten first team appearances to his name, but it's becoming increasingly obvious why Bayern acted so swiftly.
Breaking through last season with six goals in 28 games, the youngster has already matched that number this term in just ten games.
Even more stunning, though, is the fact he's not started a single match so far this season in the Bundesliga or Champions League, but has five goals and an assist in those two competitions alone.
That puts him ahead of any player in Europe's big five leagues and in continental cup competition, with Tel registering a goal or an assist every 27 minutes off of the bench.

That's even ahead of the Bundesliga's top scoring sensation Serhou Guirassy, and more importantly, far ahead of his £100m teammate Harry Kane.
It's also miles better than any of the players ahead of him in the French national team, triggering plenty of debate.
At club level, many are saying it's time to start, including former international Torsten Frings who has warned Thomas Tuchel that he could 'scare Tel away'.
Tuchel has said it's a 'matter of time' before Tel is a starter, but from the teenager's perspective, he simply says he 'won't complain and will accept the few minutes'.

Such an attitude has earned him praise all round, especially from goalkeeping stand-in Sven Ulreich.
"Mathys is a fine guy, is inquisitive, willing to learn, down-to-earth and works a lot on himself," Ulreich said.
"He is a role model for all the young players who come here. He comes up and does his job. We've had other examples that didn't handle it that way."
Kane shouldn't be the only one worried about Tel, but Thomas Muller too, however, the German veteran has even applauded his new teammate for not passing to him.
Muller explained: "When we remember Arjen Robben, we sometimes thought, 'Now he should have seen the man next to him,' but he was so focused on the goal - that also gave him a lot of goals.
"Mathys should keep doing his thing. Look for a lot of shots - with his finishing skills."
Tel will keep scoring, and he'll keep scoring for France's Under-21s too, despite senior manager Didier Deschamps explaining he's still got work to do before a call up.
His youth manager Thierry Henry agrees, but only to an extent.
"He does extraordinary things," the Arsenal legend said. "When he enters a match, you see it.
"Already, he is scoring goals. When he comes on, he always faces forward. And even if he plays only one minute, he creates two chances.
"This is not to be overlooked. Of course, he still has things to work on, playing with his back to goal, with his control.
"But he already has what you sometimes have to say to an attacker; 'You have to press, you have to run behind the defence, you have to be tough…'
"He already does all that, and scores goals. It's still quite impressive, especially considering his minutes."
Such is his unharnessed talent, particularly at international level, that questions are being asked over a switch of allegiance.
With Germany hosting Euro 2024 and in desperate need of attacking talent, their sporting director, Rudi Voller, had to comment on the possibility.
"You can certainly try it," Voller said. "But in the end it is the player himself and the family who decides. His roots are very French."
Tel's agent has confirmed Germany haven't tried anything yet, and even if they did he wouldn't be able to get a passport in time for next summer.

But it would certainly be no surprise if they did, considering the country's current lack of striking talent and France's abundance.
For Tel, though, patience isn't always a virtue, and while he clearly has buckets of it at the moment, it may not be long before France and Bayern have competition on their hands.
