Jadon Sancho steps up Man Utd training plan following Erik ten Hag's advice

Jadon Sancho is putting in extra work with coaches recommended by Erik ten Hag during the World Cup in a bid to resuscitate his career after failing to make the England squad.

Sancho has endured a difficult 18 months in the Premier League since his protracted £83million switch to Manchester United was completed last summer. The 22-year-old enjoyed a prolific spell at Borussia Dortmund but has been unable to replicate his Bundesliga form on these shores.

The winger's struggles this season culminated in him missing out on a spot in the England squad that have jetted off to the World Cup in Qatar - but Sancho is using the mid-season break to try and get his career back on track.

The Athletic revealed that Sancho was working with a Dutch coach 'recommended' by Ten Hag, and the wide-man has since been spotted training at Dutch amateur club OJC Rosmalen, who confirmed the United ace's presence with a tweet.

Manchester United are due to jet off for a winter training camp in Cadiz, Spain next week during the mid-season break, but Sancho is already back at work in a bid to revive his career after a difficult few months.

The United star, who missed the club's last four matches before the World Cup, has endured a torrid time and been criticised by club icon Paul Scholes this season. It was, however, still expected that he would have a chance of being named in Gareth Southgate's team given the England chief has a tendency to stick with tried and tested players.

Sancho has managed just eight goals and four assists in 52 appearances for United, who pursued the winger for 12 months before he eventually completed his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. And while several United players - including Marcus Rashford - have looked rejuvenated after being given a fresh start under Ten Hag, the Dutchman's arrival has failed to have a similar effect on Sancho - although he did make a promising start to the season.

Ten Hag hinted earlier this year that he had 'specific' plans for the forward to work on after he failed to make the England squad for the final international break before the World Cup.

Speaking back in September, the Old Trafford chief said of Sancho: "He's doing well, but I think there's much more room for improvement for him, because he has so many skills.

"We will fill in the period really good. We can go specific. That can be beneficial to continue the season. We know, after this break, every three days there will be a game."
