Is Messi in All-Star team to face Arsenal? Rooney's side set for Gunners clash

The footballing icon announced that he will be heading to the USA after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired in June.

Seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi is set to be officially revealed as an Inter Miami player this weekend with fans wondering when he will make his debut.

MLS All-stars take on Arsenal on Wednesday, July 19, and he has been tipped to take part in the friendly in Washington DC.

Is Messi facing Arsenal in the MLS All-Star team?

Unfortunately, Messi will not be featuring for the MLS All-Stars against Arsenal.

The 35-year-old has not been selected for the game as he wasn't part of the player selection process for the fixture.

He is yet to play a game in the USA and therefore doesn't count as an 'MLS All-Star' just yet.

There were reports that MLS Commissioner Don Garber could hand the Argentine legend a direct pass to the team but that has not been given.

The players who are part of the All-Star side have been revealed after 12 were voted by fans, 12 were selected by Wayne Rooney and two were chosen by Garber.

Some former stars of European football will be facing the Gunners, including former Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig and Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki.
