Scotland were facing Armenia in their Nations League clash at Hampden on Wednesday night.
Steve Clarke's side were hoping to put their World Cup qualification disappointment behind them following a 3-1 defeat to Ukraine last week.
After dominating the early exchanges, Scotland deservedly took the lead in the 28th minute when Anthony Ralston headed home Stuart Armstrong's cross at the back post.
It was the perfect moment for the Celtic man on his first start for his country.
Scotland remained well on top and doubled their lead in the 39th minute when Scott McKenna nodded home a John McGinn corner from four yards out.
The home side nearly added a third and even had the ball in the back of the net.
This provoked a furious reaction from one Armenia defender, who picked up a water bottle from just outside the goal and hurled it in the direction of the assistant referee.
The goal was disallowed anyway, but the player managed to escape any punishment.
VAR is in action at Hampden for the Nations League game. However, no action was taken.
The two first half goals proved to be enough for Scotland as the 2-0 victory proved to be the perfect start to their Nations League campaign.
