It's just over two months until the January market opens for business and with teams reflecting on how they've started the campaign, it appears that a number of incomings and outgoings are already in the pipeline.
Players will also be taking stock of their situations at present with a lack of gametime or an upturn in form perhaps leading them to contact their agents ahead of a potential move.
What are the latest rumours and headlines? talkSPORT.com takes a look…
Kalvin Phillips
Liverpool are reportedly interested in a £60million move for Leeds and England star Kalvin Phillips.
The Daily Star claim Liverpool have joined arch-rivals Manchester United in the battle to sign the 25-year-old midfielder.
Phillips is under contract at Elland Road until 2024 and the reports say he is 'not agitated for a move'.
But the lure of two of the biggest clubs in world football could convince him into leaving Leeds.
He is valued at upwards of £60m with both Liverpool and United making signing a holding midfielder one of their priorities next summer.
Ousmane Dembele
Barcelona are reportedly still confident they will reach an agreement with Newcastle target Ousmane Dembele to extend his contract.
But Marca report that the LaLiga giants could freeze him out if he turns down their next offer which could prompt him to leave.
Dembele's current terms expire next summer and he is yet to decide on his future.
Newcastle are keen to lure him to England as one of the first big signings in their new era.
Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with him in the past.
Dembele is still deliberating on what would be best but faces the prospect of being frozen out in the second half of the season if he does not confirm his intentions soon.
Paul Pogba
The Manchester United man's future is under increasing scrutiny after he snubbed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
According to The Sun, Pogba was furious at being left out of the starting XI - a match which saw him sent off just minutes after coming on for a reckless challenge on Naby Keita.
While it's claimed that the Frenchman did apologise to his teammates after the game, his relation with Solskjaer appears to be far from perfect.
Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season and with no new deal yet agreed it seems increasingly likely that he could be moving on.
Dele Alli
The Tottenham Hotspur man is another player who faces an uncertain future ahead of the January transfer window after being left out of the squad to face Burnley in the Carabao Cup.
Reports from the Daily Mail claim that the player is not injured and simply hasn't been selected for the squad.
Alli has struggled to show his best form for the North London side over the last couple of season after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
Unfortunately it seems that the same has happened under Nuno Espirito Santo.
After starting the first six matches of the season for Spurs, Alli hasn't played a minute of league action since being brought off against Arsenal.
Sergi Roberto
Arsenal are ready to do battle with Manchester City for the Barcelona star, according to Fichajes.
Sergi Roberto is facing an uncertain future with current club Barcelona with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
It's claimed that the versatile midfielder - who can play central midfield, right midfield and right back, will turn down any fresh offers of a new deal to stay at the Nou Camp.
The 29-year-old has made over 300 appearances for the Catalan giants and could now earn a move to England with both the Gunners and City said to interested in a move for the experienced player.
Mohamed Salah
The Liverpool star has been on fire so far this season and Anfield fans are eagerly awaiting news on his contract situation.
Salah has scored 15 goals in just 12 appearances this term, breaking a host of records along the way.
The 29-year-old Egypt forward, signed for £36million from Roma in 2017, just over 18 months to run on his existing deal at Liverpool.
He has been in talks over an extension for some time and Salah is demanding a £500,000-a-week contract to stay with the Reds, according to Football Insider.
Frenkie de Jong
Manchester City are set to compete with Bayern Munich in their attempts to sign the Barcelona midfielder.
Italian outlet Calciomercato both European giants are interesting in prizing De Jong, whose contract expires in 2026, away from the Nou Camp.
Bayern were linked with a move for the Netherlands midfielder last January, while City were interested in the 24-year-old when he broke onto the scene at Ajax.
Declan Rice
West Ham boss David Moyes claimed clubs missed out on a £100million bargain for Rice this summer.
Manchester United had the England star on their list of defensive midfield targets but ultimately decided against strengthening in that area.
And former Red Devils boss Moyes admitted Rice is now worth even more to the Hammers ahead of the club's 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "There was a bargain to be got with Declan at £100million. That bargain has now gone.
"We have a lot of really good players at this football club and I think while you're building and developing I think people might always come and look at your players.
"But it is good that they are because that is telling us that they're doing well."
Conor Coady
Newcastle are also considering a move for the Wolves skipper.
Reports from The Sun claim that Conor Coady is a player in the Magpies' January wishlist as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the second half of the season.
A move for the England international could reportedly cost around £20million with Wolves naturally reluctant to let such an influential player leave the club.
Youri Tielemans
Brendan Rodgers has refuted claims that Youri Tielemans has rejected a new contract with Leicester City.
The Belgian midfielder is a wanted man with both Liverpool and Manchester United said to be interested in a deal for the star.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be keen with Tielemans having less than two years remaining on his contract, but Rodgers said that reports that he rejected a deal are untrue.
Rodgers said: "There's reports, but there's (been) no turning down.
"I think there's just dialogue between the club and Youri's people.
"I think the club are waiting to hear back. But that's something that's out of my control. What I can control is his mentality, his commitment to the team, and you cannot question that."
Jules Kounde
Chelsea have been warned by Sevilla that Jules Kounde won't be sold on the cheap ahead of the January transfer window.
The Spanish side are rumoured to be having financial difficulties meaning that the Blues have been linked with a cut-price move for the talented central defender.
Chelsea reportedly made a £43million offer for the player over the summer, however Sevilla are holding out for around £60million and won't be pressured into selling for less.
