Rice, on the other hand, has started every game so far and is likely to feature from the off once again on Saturday against Les Bleus.
England's match against France will be their first meeting in a major tournament for ten years, when they drew 1-1 in the Euro 2012 group stages.
Victory will see them progress to the semi-finals next week, and they will battle either Morocco or Portugal for a place in the final.
