Van Gaal tries to kiss Depay in amazing response to Di Maria's Man United complaints

The iconic former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach was speaking about his time at Manchester United, which coincided with the £59.7million signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid.

The Argentine went onto flop in the Premier League, leaving after just a single season, and later blamed Van Gaal for his struggles.

Di Maria labelled Van Gaal 'the worst coach of my career,' a quote that was unsurprisingly brought up before the two meet again as the Netherlands face Argentina in the World Cup quarter finals.

And in typical Van Gaal fashion, he had the room in stitches.

"I am very sorry that Angel Di María once said that I am the worst coach he has ever had," he began.

"Here next to me sits Memphis [Depay]. He was also at Manchester [United]. And now we kiss on the mouth."

Van Gaal then reached an arm round the Barcelona forward's chair and got a priceless reaction as Depay wagged his finger and slammed the table in laughter before putting his head in his hands.

"We're not going to do that. But that's how it goes in football," Van Gaal added.

"People are laughing now, but I also passed Memphis for the [FA Cup] final. That's not fun, but believe me: a trainer doesn't do that without a reason.

"Maybe it was the wrong decision. Look how we treat each other now. He doesn't want a kiss on the mouth, a pity, but also nice."
