Mourinho insults reporter and refuses to take questions after Roma humiliation

mirror.co.uk, 4 December 2021, 22:04
Jose Mourinho's Roma were humiliated 3-0 by his former club, Inter Milan, at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, with the ex-Manchester United manager in no mood to answer questions after the loss

Jose Mourinho snubbed reporters and insulted a journalist following Roma 's 3-0 defeat to Inter Milan on Saturday.

The Giallorossi were humiliated by the reigning Serie A champions, continuing the the 58-year-old's drama-filled reign at the Stadio Olimpico.

It was just Mourinho's second loss on home turf from 41 matches managing in Italy, having successfully been Inter boss 11 years ago before returning with Roma this summer.

But never has the 'Special One' faced so much criticism during his time there, particularly from Italian media.

Mourinho has clashed with journalists on multiple occasions this season but upped the ante after his side's latest loss by refusing to even take questions.

The Nerazzurri scored all three of their goals in the first half through Hakan Calhanoglu, Edin Dzeko - sold by Roma this summer - and Denzel Dumfries.

Meanwhile, the Giallorossi recorded just one shot on target and post-match, boss Mourinho told a reporter, who opened his press conference: "Your job is a lot easier than ours which is why we earn a lot more than you."

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur manager's remarks came after he had shunned TV pundits, instead monologging to the camera in a brutal put-down of his players.

"I apologise to the studio, to the people at home who might be interested in their questions," he began.

"Inter are stronger than us in normal conditions. In non-normal conditions, they are much stronger than us.

"Last season, they were 29 points ahead of Roma.

"Today, with injuries and suspended players, it was very, very difficult," as he referenced his six absentees including England international Tammy Abraham.

"Our attacking potential was practically nil. It was very important to score a goal, because we would only have two or three chances.

"We had three and didn't score.

"When you play with a defence that has Ibanez and various others in positions that are not their usual ones, you still cannot concede the first and third goals.

Have your say! Will Mourinho turn out to be a success at Roma? Give us your verdict here.

"You just can't."

One of Mourinho's regular gripes is with the officials, but despite Gianluca Mancini and Nicolo Zaniolo being shown yellow cards - ruling them out of their next league game against Spezia - he was complimentary of referee Marco Di Bello.

"The referee did well, he didn't influence the result at all, he just should've booked [Bryan] Cristante too," he added.

"We are the most undisciplined side in Serie A, we've got more cards than anyone."

"Congratulations to Inter, obviously I wish them good luck for Tuesday [when they face Real Madrid in the Champions League ]."
