Roy Keane branded "bully" by Rod Stewart for his "aggressive" punditry

The Manchester United legend was in the firing line after rock and roll star Stewart revealed how he is not a fan of the Irishman's "aggressive" style of punditry

Manchester United and current Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane has been the subject of criticism from an unlikely source in rock-star Rod Stewart.

The former frontman of music icons Faces has revealed he finds Keane style of analysing Premier League football as "aggressive" and even went as far to suggest he strays into "bully" territory.

The ex-United star is famed for his in-studio spats with fellow pundits since making the transition into television - the latest of which came against Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

Tempers flared as Keane and Carragher debated the intentions behind Cristiano Ronaldo 's return to United, Keane forcefully ramming home his point that the 36-year-old re-joined not solely for the purpose of winning the title.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Is Keane too aggressive in his punditry style? Comment below

The clip of the two fiercely arguing their respective points has since gone viral, with music legend Stewart now having his say on the matter.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the rock legend and ardent Celtic supporter said: "I think Roy can be a bit of a bully sometimes, I admired him as a player but he's a bit of a bully."

Asked to elaborate on his claims, Stewart explained: "I think there is a way of speaking your mind and I think he is far too aggressive.

"He was an elite player but do you think he would - do you think he could be a good manager with that approach?"

Keane has indeed struggled to translate his success as a player into a respectable coaching career, the highlight of which was securing promotion for Sunderland in the 2006/07 season.

A dismal spell at Ipswich Town followed before his most recent trio of coaching gigs have all come in the form of assistant manager jobs with the Republic of Ireland national team, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest respectively.

While Stewart clearly did not take a liking to Keane's war of words with Carragher, the Irishman has found support in the form of former teammate Paul Ince.

The ex-United and Inter Milan star told Genting Casino : "At the end of the day, if you analyse the United team, it doesn't matter whether you sign Ronaldo or whether you sign Haaland from Dortmund, the issue has always been the midfield area.

"Man United signing Ronaldo wasn't going to guarantee a Premier League title it was to try and get closer to the teams like City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

"Carragher arguing that buying Ronaldo was to win United the title, is off the mark because we haven't got every department right. We haven't got an identity."
