Lingard ready to leave Man Utd for good amid Ralf Rangnick frustration

Jesse Lingard is ready to leave Manchester United behind and seal a permanent move to West Ham in the January transfer window after growing frustrated with Ralf Rangnick.

The interim coach is facing a dressing room crisis and potential exodus this month at Old Trafford as Mirror Football understands several players are unhappy with their situations and want to leave the club.

A source close to the squad claimed as many as 11 players are ready to head for the exit after becoming disillusioned with life at United.

There are concerns that cliques have developed in the dressing room, leaving some players feeling marginalised and isolated within the group, while some players are unconvinced by Rangnick's coaching methods.

The source said: "It's not good. The atmosphere is really bad and it looks like there are going to be big problems ahead for United."

One of the obvious players left in limbo has been Lingard, who remained at the club over the summer to fight for his place but is yet to start a Premier League match this season.

That is despite the fact the winger has notched twice in his eight appearances from the bench, one goal more than £73million summer signing Jadon Sancho has managed from 10 starts and six substitute outings.

The 29-year-old has actually played more minutes for England this season than he has in the league for his club, highlighting his lack of action under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now Rangnick.

Man United are resigned to losing Lingard after he turned down a contract extension in October and he is free to negotiate with foreign clubs as of January 1.

But West Ham are determined to land the attacking midfielder on a permanent deal this month rather than in the summer and are hoping to strike a deal for a cut-price fee.

David Moyes tried and failed to capture the midfielder over the summer following a hugely impressive loan spell for Lingard at the London Stadium, where he scored nine goals in 16 games.

That form earned him a recall to the England squad under Gareth Southgate after he was frozen out under Solskjaer, failing to make a Premier League start before his move to West Ham.

A year later, Lingard finds himself in the same position with the Red Devils but can now negotiate from a point of strength, with United keen to claim a fee instead of watching him walk away for nothing in June.

Moyes later went on to sign Nikola Vlasic for £25m from CSKA Moscow, but the Croatian has struggled to produce the same form that saw him coveted by several European clubs, scoring just one Premier League goal so far.

And Moyes will not miss out on the opportunity to snap up Lingard, a player held in high regard at the club after his goals helped the east London outfit seal European football for this season.

If Lingard does leave this month, it would be with a heavy heart after spending 22 years of his life at the club, having joined United as a seven-year-old back in 2000, going on to score 35 goals in 222 appearances.
