Liverpool will not raise the white flag in surrender of the title race.
That is the message from the Reds camp, even as they face a daunting 11 point gap to runaway leaders Manchester City in what is fast becoming a one horse race.
A desperately disappointing festive programme - where they took just two points from nine over the holiday period - has left Jurgen Klopp's side adrift of the Champions.
But according to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who starred in the thrilling contest at Chelsea, there is still belief in the Anfield camp. "We are just past the halfway point so a lot can happen between now and May," he said.

"So we have to make sure we focus on ourselves, make sure we stay as close to Manchester City as we can.
"(We know) it will be difficult and we need teams to beat them for us. But it's about us making sure we are in a position to capitalise if they do drop points.
"There's not really much (more) we can do except try to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season.
Liverpool had the better of the chances at Chelsea, and given their injuries and Covid-related absences, did well to bounce back after a dire display at Leicester.
They now also face the serious blow of losing three of their first team players to the Africa Cup of Nations, including their two biggest stars, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
But captain Jordan Henderson revealed after the draw at Chelsea that the mood in the camp is still positive, even if a lot of Covid tests are too!
And he said to the club's website : "Everybody in the squad needs to be ready to play over this next period over the next few weeks.
"That's football, you dig in, you keep going as a squad and hopefully we get our rewards come the end of the season.

"We know how strong City are, Chelsea are, the whole of the Premier League - it's a tough league, some very good teams, so you can't get focused on anything else but yourself.
"We just need to focus on what we need to do in every game that we play, especially without [Naby Keita, Mane and Salah, who now head to the Africa Cup of Nations]."
Liverpool U23 player Tony Gallacher meanwhile, has completed a permanent move to St Johnstone, after making one appearance for the Reds
