Benzema and Carvajal ruled out of El Clasico in Las Vegas

Karim Benzema and Dani Carvajal will take no part in the friendly match against Barcelona in the early hours of Sunday morning in Las Vegas.

The defender suffered an ankle injury during Thursday's training session, which is why he did not go to the UCLA training facility with the rest of the squad on Friday. Barring any surprises, Lucas Vazquez will start at right-back against Barcelona.

The situation is different for the French striker. Benzema joined pre-season in Los Angeles, skipping the Valdebebas sessions, and that has led to his absence from the first match of the summer.

This week he has been training normally and at the same pace as his teammates, which is why the club had reported that he would be available. However, in the end, this will not be the case.

Regarding Borja Mayoral, the striker did not travel to the United States because he did not comply with the country's vaccination requirements. Once the issue has been resolved, he is expected to appear in California on Saturday. The academy graduate, with a contract until 2023, wants to continue, but the club plans to keep only of either him or Mariano Diaz.
