The Cristiano Ronaldo mystery: Manchester United don't even know when he'll be back

The fact that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United has shaken up the football world.

The Portuguese star, who has already informed the club of his decision to move, did not join the first training session with the Red Devils on Monday.

Ronaldo has apparently delayed his return to training for family reasons, but now the Daily Mail have gone a little further and revealed the confusion that exists within United.

The English newspaper, which cites club sources, says that they do not know when the player will return or if he will go on tour to Thailand and Australia with the rest of the team on Friday.

Neville wants a quick solution to the Cristiano Ronaldo situation

The future of Cristiano, who remains in Lisbon, is an unknown quantity at the moment. However, for some, like Gary Neville, a resolution needs to be found quickly.

"The only important factor with the Ronaldo situation is that it is dealt with decisively and quickly," Neville wrote on Twitter.

Neville believes that the most important thing is the pre-season preparation, the team's work in training ahead of the new season, and that therefore nothing should stand in the way of Erik Ten Hag's first few weeks in charge of the club.

Chelsea's interest in Cristiano Ronaldo

Both The Sun and Daily Mail claim that one of Cristiano's possible destinations, if he finally leaves Manchester United, would be Chelsea.

Todd Boehly, the Blues' new owner, would welcome his arrival at the club.

However, according to these reports, he'd first consult with coach Thomas Tuchel, as it seems that the coach may have some doubts about the signing.

Ronaldo returned to United last season from Juventus, having been at the club between 2003 and 2009, a period in which he won the Premier League three times and also won the Champions League. Now, his second spell with the club could be coming to an end.
