Chelsea 'offered' Neymar and Ronaldo as Boehly makes promise to Tuchel

Chelsea have been approached over the superstar signings of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar - according to reports.

The Blues are said to have been contacted by intermediaries for the Portugal and Brazil international respectively as the pair seek lucrative moves this summer, according to the Evening Standard. Chelsea are yet to make a signing in this window following the takeover, with Leeds United winger Raphinha still yet to commit to a move to Stamford Bridge.

New Blues co-owner Todd Boehly has already spoken with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential transfer this summer. The Manchester United superstar has outlined his intention to leave due to his frustration over a lack of transfer activity and the absence of Champions League football.

Ronaldo is due to miss a second day of training with the Red Devils on Tuesday, as speculation mounts over potential destinations for the 37-year-old. Family reasons have been given as the official reason behind the veteran forward's absence, who has one year left on his current deal.

Ronaldo enjoyed another impressive campaign on an individual level, netting 24 goals in all competitions. However, it proved to be another miserable season for United, as a dismal run of form saw Ralf Rangnick's side miss out on Champions League football next term.

Neymar is another superstar linked with a high-profile move this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain said to be open to a sale of their world-record signing. The Brazil international has seen his influence wane in recent seasons due to the emergence of Kylian Mbappe and the arrival of former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi.

But doubts remain over how Chelsea would be able to subsidise a move for either Neymar or Ronaldo in this window. Both players would command substantial wages, while it is unclear whether Thomas Tuchel would welcome a superstar recruit.

The Blues are still counting the cost of the deal for Romelu Lukaku, with the £97.5million man returning to Inter Milan on loan after a single disastrous season. The Belgian international failed to adapt to Tuchel's tactics, and similar concerns would surely arise over Neymar or Ronaldo's suitability.

Boehly and Clearlake Capital are said to have promised Tuchel 'at least' six new signings in an attempt to close the gap on Liverpool and Premier League champions Manchester City. Reinforcements in attack are clearly a priority, judging by the links and approaches made so far.

Chelsea are said to be growingly increasingly confident of agreeing a deal for Raheem Sterling. The England international has entered the final year of his contract with City, and a desire for more first-team minutes could drive a reported £45m switch.

The Blues also remain in the hunt for Raphinha, but the winger is yet to be sold on a switch to Stamford Bridge. The 25-year-old is said to be set on a move on Barcelona, but the La Liga giants have so far been unable to match Leeds' asking price.
