Cristiano Ronaldo has cut a frustrated figure for much of his year back at Manchester United.
After scoring a brace in his return to Old Trafford against Newcastle, things began to unravel. Nine weeks after his arrival the Red Devils were getting hammered 5-0 at home by arch-rivals Liverpool and within months Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was gone.
Ronaldo has been criticised for his body language and behaviour on the pitch, but that filtered onto the training ground. He grew bored of positional work at Carrington and was heard saying "this is s***" during certain drills, whilst also kicking the ball away, according to The Independent.
That frustration looks to have climaxed with Ronaldo himself looking to quit the club after a poor season that saw them finish in sixth - meaning a year without Champions League football. The Portuguese superstar has missed the first two days of pre-season training and his involvement in the tour of Thailand and Australia is in doubt.
As he's aged Ronaldo has seen natural limitations put upon him. He's tweaked his style as a result, but that has forced teams to accommodate him. As a result he copped criticism last term as United slid down the table, despite scoring goals on an individual basis.
Ronaldo also found himself embroiled in internal issues with captain Harry Maguire - a matter than remains a live issue, the Independent also reports. The 37-year-old believes that donning the armband ensures a player's starting role and he is determined to remain a regular.

His agent Jorge Mendes is now considering their options this summer, which leaves United in an awkward situation. The Red Devils chose not to push for Darwin Nunez because they expected to have Ronaldo leading their line for, at least, another season.
Now the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is being linked with a Premier League move to Chelsea. Todd Boehly, who is now the new owner in west London, wants to make a statement signing and is open to the idea of bringing the Portuguese star to Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel though is not convinced by the move and wants to pursue other targets. Bayern Munich and Roma have also been touted as possible destinations for Ronaldo. A return to Sporting Lisbon has also been linked, although the player would have to accept a mammoth pay cut if he were to head back to his homeland.
