Russell Brand hails 'Moyesiah' and says this is one of West Ham's best eras

talksport.com, 25 January 2022, 09:42
Russell Brand believes this is one of the best eras he's ever experienced as a West Ham fan.

A creditable sixth-placed finish in the Premier League last season has been followed up by a challenge for a Champions League qualification spot this term.

They've also impressed in Europe as they breezed to first place in their Europa League group.

Hammers fans have ironically referred to the club as 'massive' and Brand is fully on that train and saluted manager David Moyes.

"I love the Moyseiah!" Brand joked. "West Ham are massive, everywhere we go!

"I look at that side… Jarrod Bowen's top drawer, Michail's [Antonio] amazing… my mate says Kurt Zouma looks like he's at the wrong school, he's too good!"

"I don't remember a West Ham side being so cohesive and being able to move between fluid play and necessary structure. He knows what he's doing, Moyes."

Brand continued: "It's one of the best eras I remember. It was well exciting with Tevez, with Pardew. 1986 is the origin of West Ham being in my memory as a kid."

West Ham's bid for a top four finish suffered a blow at the weekend as they suffered a last-gasp defeat at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford netting in what was effectively the last kick of the match.

It appeared to be a controversial winner with Edinson Cavani, who provided the assist for the winner, initially looking offside before passing to Rashford. However, replays show the Uruguayan was in fact onside.

Brand joked: "How can that goal be allowed to stand with Cavani's entire hand offside! His whole hand's offside! It's corruption at Old Trafford I tell you. What are they trying to do at Old Trafford, bring back the glory days?"
