The 28-year-old's career has taken a turn of the worse following his high-profile switch from Scottish giants Rangers to Fenerbahce during the summer of 2023.
Kent has supposedly been on the wishlist of Kieran McKenna's Tractor Boys since the summer window, when Leeds United were also linked to the player.
After featuring in a Champions League qualifier for Fenerbahce at the beginning of the season, Kent reached an agreement to terminate his contract at the Turkish club.
The best spell of Kent's career to date undoubtedly arrived between 2019 and 2023 at Rangers, for whom he found the net on 27 occasions across 175 appearances, winning the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard.
Leicester, Crystal Palace join Ipswich in hunt for Kent?
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, two Premier League strugglers have joined newly-promoted Ipswich in the race for the services of Kent.
The report claims that there are a host of top-flight clubs monitoring the 28-year-old's situation, however Leicester and Crystal Palace are particularly keen on the winger.
With his contract with Jose Mourinho's side ripped up earlier this season, Kent will be permitted to join a new employer as a free agent in January.
It is understood that assurances of regular game time in the Premier League will play a huge part in the attacker's decision on his next club.
As well as the aforementioned Premier League trio, Championship outfit Preston North End have been credited with an interest in Kent, as relayed by the Lancashire Post.
Who needs Kent the most?
Just two points clear of the Championship relegation zone, Preston would be extremely fortunate to secure the services of Kent, especially with top-flight clubs circling around the talent.
Leicester are set to be short of options on the flanks until the conclusion of the campaign following Abdul Fatawu's season-ending injury.
As a result, it is hard to argue that Ruud van Nistelrooy's Foxes would not benefit from the possible January arrival of Kent, who will be looking to recapture his sensational Rangers form.
