Spurs moved swiftly to name Conte as Nuno Espirito Santo's replacement in a whirlwind 24 hours.
The Italian has an impressive track record of delivering league titles at Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan.
He will now be tasked with ending Tottenham's trophy drought and it might just have their rivals worried.
Fabregas, who played 303 games for Arsenal and won the title under Conte at Chelsea, begrudgingly praised the move made by the rivals of both his former clubs.
He wrote on Twitter: "I hate to say it but what an appointment by Spurs."
The hiring of the 52-year-old has understandably got fans hugely excited, thanks to his illustrious career as both a player and a manager.
The man himself had a simple message for the fan base in a clip shared by the club.
He said: "My message for our fans… is only one. I will do everything to deserve their support."
Spurs last won a trophy in 2008 with the club losing in several finals since then and Conte will have a task on his hands in turning it around.
Former Chelsea hero Andy Townsend believes the Italian will make a success of the job.
He told talkSPORT: "I think he will (deliver success). What that success is I don't know. I think he will take Tottenham forward from where they are now, that's not particularly difficult.
"He will shake it up. A load of those Spurs players are seemingly very comfortable.
"If you want to play for a top club then you can't think you are nailed on to play every single game every week.
"I think Antonio Conte will shake that club up from the bottom. Opportunities will arise for some and no doubt thanks to his relationship with Paratici there will be new faces on the horizon.
"For the here and now, the work rate will improve, their shape out of possession has to get better.
"They've got to work a lot harder and smarter. Lots of work for Conte to do at Spurs, but I do believe, if he's there long enough and gets the support from Daniel Levy with the finances, he will make a success of that job."
