Sunday's Argentine Primera Division predictions including River Plate vs. Lanus

River Plate vs. Lanus (Sunday, 7.00pm)

On Sunday, title contenders River Plate will host Lanus at Estadio Mas Monumental in the first Argentine Primera Division encounter between the two this season.

A 2-0 defeat at Deportivo Riestra dropped La Banda down to second in the overall table, while Granate are eighth following a 2-0 triumph over Racing Club.

We say: River Plate 2-0 Lanus

Los Millionarios always seem to bounce back from a poor performance, and we expect them to come out with plenty of determination and overwhelm a Lanus side that have not been quite as consistent as them.

C. Cordoba vs. Platense (Sunday, 9.15pm)

Seeking their first points in the second phase of the 2024 Argentine Primera Division campaign, Central Cordoba will welcome Platense to Estadio Alfredo Terrera on Sunday.

In their previous domestic encounter, El Ferroviario were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Argentinos Juniors, while Marron lost by that same score to Talleres Cordoba.

Over a month off may have enabled Cordoba to refocus and correct some of their past mistakes, but their leaky defence is difficult to overlook, and we believe the visitors will eventually find a breakthrough and win comfortably.

Estudiantes vs. Union (Sunday, 9.15pm)

Estudiantes will be looking to end a dismal six-game winless run when they face off against Union at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi on Sunday evening.

The away side, on the other hand, head into this one in scintillating form as they go in search of a fifth victory in six matches.

We say: Estudiantes 0-1 Union

Union boast the best defensive record in the division so far and we can see them recording another shutout here en route to a narrow win at the end of the 90 minutes.

Velez Sarsfield vs. Talleres (Monday, 12.00am)

Velez Sarsfield will be looking to get back to winning ways on Monday when Talleres come visiting Estadio Jose Amalfitani.

Talleres, meanwhile, head to Buenos Aires aiming to secure a fourth straight competitive victory and pick up where they left off last month.

We say: Velez Sarsfield 1-2 Talleres

Velez Sarsfield have blown hot and cold so far as they are yet to get going this campaign. Talleres will fancy their chances of securing three more points in this one and we can see the visitors just about getting the job done.

Defensa vs. Boca Juniors (Monday, 12.00am)

Round six of the 2024 Argentine Primera Division sees Defensa y Justicia welcome Boca Juniors to Estadio Norberto Tito Tomaghello on Monday.

Both teams had to make do with a share of the spoils in their respective most recent outings and will be looking to go one better in this one.
