Premier League 100 club: Raheem Sterling moves level with Romelu Lukaku

sportsmole.co.uk, 17 February 2024, 22:29
Raheem Sterling came back to haunt his former club Manchester City as Chelsea earned a point against the champions at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The winger opened the scoring at the end of a quick counter-attack to deal a blow to the hosts' hopes of an unprecedented fourth successive English top-flight title.

The goal was also his 121st in the Premier League, taking him level with Romelu Lukaku as the joint-20th highest scorers in the competition's history.

One more goal would take him into the top 20, while he is now only two goals short of Dwight Yorke's final tally in the Premier League.

There was a goalscoring return for the fit-again Mohamed Salah too as Liverpool swept Brentford aside, with the Egyptian winger also helping himself to an assist after coming off the bench.

Salah is now within eight goals of Jermain Defoe as the ninth-highest scorer in Premier League history.

Here, Sports Mole looks at the latest standings in the Premier League 100 club following Saturday's action.
