Nasri's furious Mancini row with ex-Man City star threatening to throw boots

Samir Nasri has opened up on the furious altercation he had with Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, resulting in the Frenchman threatening to "throw boots" at his manager.

Nasri arrived at City from Arsenal in 2011, and was a major part of their Premier League -winning side which ended a 44-year wait for a title, but it wasn't always plain sailing.

The Frenchman may have played 30 Premier League matches in their title triumph, but behind the scenes a lot more went on between the pair, who locked horns in the City dressing room.

They may have put their differences aside later that season, but things almost boiled over.

During an away trip to Wolves as they closed in on their first Premier League title, Nasri and Mancini became embroiled in a furious row, and the Frenchman opened up on the incident to French publication DH.

Nasri said: "In the first half, he kept talking to me. I told him to stop. If you're not happy, you take me out.

"I get ready to go out at half-time. In the dressing room, I take off my shoes and tell Yaya Toure, who is sitting next to me, that if he speaks badly to me, I'll throw my boots at him because the coach used to disrespect and speak badly to players.

"I insulted him by all names. Even his children who sometimes came to play in the reserves or who trained with us.

"I left for Paris the next day. Two days later, I was on the bench against Manchester United.

"The president came from Abu-Dhabi to see us and told Mancini that if I was fit, we would win.

"I returned to the team, and we made up in a private plane that he paid for with me because I had to return from Paris."

It was the first of two Premier League titles that Nasri won over the course of his career, with the second success coming during Manuel Pellegrini's first season at City, after the Chilean replaced Mancini in 2013.

Nasri was still on the City books as recent as 2017, but never won a major trophy again during his career.

The Frenchman even made a brief cameo back in the Premier League with West Ham in 2019, but left for Anderlecht after managing just five appearances.

Mancini, on the other hand, has just won the European Championships with Italy after his side beat England on penalties in the final, and the Italian boss has been hailed for his incredible impact since taking over the national team.

City continue to dominate England, and it's unlikely that Nasri would have held a future at City if he took on Pep Guardiola in a similar way, who has a zero tolerance approach when it comes to disciplinary action.
