Frankfurt boss goes full Klinsmann and hails fans for being 'louder than Rangers'

It was a night of hurt for the Scottish side as Aaron Ramsey missed a crucial spot kick, with Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp the hero.

The German side managed to knock out the likes of Barcelona and West Ham en route to the showpiece event in Seville and the celebrations were brilliant in the aftermath.

Manager Oliver Glasner went full Jurgen Klinsmann and dived, face first, into the turf while being cheered on by his squad.

The Frankfurt players also took the opportunity to interrupt his post-match press conference and shower their manager with drinks.

That kind of spirit has been at the heart of Frankfurt's run to winning the Europa League, with an incredible 50,000 fans packing into their home stadium to watch the match in Germany.

Glasner summed up that spirit the players have developed this season after lifting the trophy.

"No, there is no next level, it's impossible," Glasner said post-match.

"I have to say a bit more about that. This year started difficult, but the players kept believing in themselves, what we told them, what we trained.

"That shows the character, mentality they have. The spirit developed, today we had players who weren't eligible for Europe but they were never negative, they were not selfish, they did everything for success.

"That's why I wasn't surprised that even when it was difficult, our fans were louder than Rangers' and they pushed us forward."

Now Eintracht Frankfurt can look forward to a place in next seasons' Champions League and will hope to emulate the success last year's winners, Villarreal, achieved.
