Fans love Wright and Keane's lunch date that even included prawn sandwiches

The pair recently got together for a spot of lunch and Keane who once coined the phrase 'prawn sandwich brigade' hilariously ate one in a TikTok video alongside the Arsenal legend.

The Sky Sports pundit is known for his forthright views on football, often leaving his colleagues in stitches but during his playing days Keane was anything but a showman.

The Irishman spent 12 years at Old Trafford but left the club under a cloud after a public fallout with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Following a 1-0 Champions League win over Dynamo Kyiv in 2000, Keane slammed a section of Manchester United fans and first uttered the 'prawn sandwich brigade' phrase aimed at those who attend matches through hospitality means.

Keane said: "Away from home our fans are fantastic, I'd call them the hardcore fans.

"But at home they have a few drinks and probably the prawn sandwiches, and they don't realise what's going on out on the pitch."

The phrase has long been attributed to the Irishman and whilst Wright sat down to eat a steak & ale pie, Keane chomped on a prawn sandwich before choosing a tart for afters.

Keane jokingly said to a waiter: "There's no calories in this is there?," while Wright enjoyed a dessert of his own.

The duo then agreed that they would cook something together one day, opening the door to another collaboration.

The video, which at the time of writing has garnered 12,500 likes, was inundated with comments from fans who clearly enjoyed the content.

One fan wrote: "Ian Wright and Roy Keane is a friendship I never expected."

A second wrote: "I would love Roy Keane and Ian wright cooking together."

Another added: "The most wholesome bromance."

A fourth fan wrote: "It's brilliant seeing all the old rivals together now, not just for the punditry but they are pure entertainment, more entertaining than Man United."

A final fan added: "Ah mate, imagine sitting down for a bit of grub and a pint with these two, would be banging!"

Keane and Wright were fierce rivals in the 1990s and early 2000s as Manchester United and Arsenal went head-to-head for honours.

But their punditry roles on ITV and more recently on The Overlap has brought about a true football bromance.
