Interested clubs, including the likes of West Ham and Newcastle and teams in Spain, have now been put on alert over the England international who is expected to leave Old Trafford either in January, on a free transfer in the summer.
Lingard, 28, has been a bit-part player since returning to Man United after his loan spell at West Ham ended.
The England international impressed in east London, firing the Hammers into the Europa League with his nine goals and five assists.
He has also scored twice in five league appearances back at United this season, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used him sparingly due to the club's influx of top attacking talent - particular the celebrated return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to The Times, Lingard is frustrated with his lack of game time since returning to Old Trafford, and wants to leave in the January transfer window.
He has made more starts for England than he has for his club this season, starting just once for United in their Carabao Cup exit to West Ham.
It is even reported that Lingard's representatives have gone to Spain to talk to interested clubs.
La Liga giants Barcelona and Italian side AC Milan were two clubs linked with the attacking midfielder earlier this year if he becomes a free agent next summer.
He can open discussions with foreign clubs from January onwards.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail are reporting that Solskjaer held talks with key players - including Cristiano Ronaldo, captain Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes - on Thursday as he attempts to get the club back on track.
Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, and Nemanja Matic were all also said to be present in a 10am meeting at United's training ground, Carrington.
This comes after some poor results and performances in recent weeks, with Solskjaer keen to get things back on track after the international break.
The Red Devils face Watford on Saturday and, after a run of six defeats in 12 games, the under-pressure boss needs three points.
