Wayne Rooney 'not qualified' for job like Everton as Derby County boss branded a 'managerial minnow' with Rafael Benitez under fire at Premier League side

The Toffees are on a terrible run of form and the pressure is firmly on Rafael Benitez to turn their fortunes around.

They suffered a seventh defeat from their last nine games last Sunday as Crystal Palace beat them 3-1 at Selhurst Park, but followed it up with a hard-fought draw against Chelsea.

Benitez maintains the boards backing for now but some candidates have been mooted for the Goodison Park hotseat - including former player Rooney and current assistant Duncan Ferguson.

Jordan, however, admits he's baffled by the reports linking Rooney to the hotseat and insists the club 'cannot be serious' if the Derby boss is considered.

"I mean this is a grown up football club," Jordan said of the prospect of Rooney getting the job prior to the Chelsea match.

"It may not act or behave that way sometimes under Moshiri's ownership. It doesn't have financial control, any youth development policy or any achievement on the pitch or any managers that bring any success.

"But come on, that is the blind leading the blind. The observation I made about Wayne is that the reality of the circumstances in which he was performing.

"Now you have to look at it and say this is a big boy's job. He's not a manager for this job, he's a minnow."
