Uchenna Kanu outshines Kgatlana and Semenya in push ups challenge

Nigeria 's Uchenna Kanu has outshined Africa's top women's stars again, including compatriot South Africa 's Thembi Kgatlana and Caster Semenya, in this week's push-ups challenge of the Living Room Cup.

While exciting news of football returns in Germany following the easing of the lockdown in most nations across the globe, top female African athletes at their various bases continue to engage in the weekly contests while staying safe at home.

In early April, the Sevilla striker had beaten top African stars, including Asisat Oshoala and Onome Ebi, and Germany forward Leroy Sane - initiator of the week-three contest - as she raked in 119 reps in 45 seconds in the 'side steps challenge'.

She followed up with an impressive showing as she surpassed her compatriot Oparanozie and Banyana duo of Kgatlana and Janine Van Wyk, hitting a whopping 41 reps in the week-five plank get-ups challenge.

For week six, Semenya started the push-ups challenge, which requires the raising and lowering the body using the arms in a common callisthenics exercise beginning from the prone position.

The Olympic gold medalist managed 126 cobras in 45 seconds, while Kgatlana got 50 - a feat Kanu overshadowed as she accrued 133 in the record-setting time.

It is the third time in the six-week-old challenge that the 22-year-old striker, who made the 2019 African Women's Player of the Year shortlist will emerge an overall winner.

Kanu's third triumph saw her surpassing Semenya's feat after the South African athlete had previously recorded the highest reps in core crusher and blockbuster challenges.
