Tuesday's Nations League predictions including Germany vs. Italy

sportsmole.co.uk, 14 June 2022, 05:00
Armenia vs. Scotland (Tuesday, 5.00pm)

Armenia and Scotland square off in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday evening with the two nations occupying the bottom spots in League B Group 1.

However, that does not tell the whole story, with the teams just three points adrift of leaders Ukraine and level on points with second-placed Republic of Ireland.

We say: Armenia 0-1 Scotland

After numerous fixtures in succession and humid temperatures expected in Yerevan, few people will expect many goals to be scored during this contest. Scotland will be wary of losing a second game in a row, but we feel that the Tartan Army will do enough to edge this contest by the solitary goal.

Moldova vs. Andorra (Tuesday, 5.00pm)

On Tuesday, Moldova will play host to Andorra in a UEFA Nations League contest, with both teams currently level on four points.

The home side are looking to bounce back following a 4-2 defeat to Latvia, while Andorra are aiming to clinch back-to-back victories.

We say: Moldova 2-1 Andorra

Despite playing an entire half with ten-men, Moldova dominated possession in the reverse fixture between the two sides, enjoying double the amount of shots as well, and we think if they can keep all 11 players on the pitch then the hosts will utilise home advantage to edge out Andorra.

Netherlands vs. Wales (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Netherlands will be bidding to cement their spot at the top of Group 4 of League A in the UEFA Nations League when they welcome Wales to Rotterdam on Tuesday night.

Louis van Gaal's side are currently at the head of the section, collecting seven points from their three matches, while Wales are bottom, having only picked up one point from their opening three games.

We say: Netherlands 2-1 Wales

Wales are more than capable of causing problems for the Netherlands, and we are expecting a tight match on Tuesday night. Holland will be determined to bounce back from what was a disappointing performance against Poland, though, and we believe that Van Gaal's side will again record a 2-1 win over Wales.

Poland vs. Belgium (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Belgium will be bidding to make it back-to-back UEFA Nations League victories over Poland when the two teams lock horns in Warsaw on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils ran out 6-1 winners when the pair met on June 8, but both sides have picked up four points from their opening three matches in Group 4 of League A.

We say: Poland 1-1 Belgium

Poland will be determined to gain revenge on Belgium following their heavy defeat in the first meeting, but we are struggling to separate the two sides here. A point would not be the worst result for either team, and a tight contest on Tuesday evening could end with the spoils being shared.

England vs. Hungary (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

England will aim to get off the mark in the UEFA Nations League at the fourth attempt when they welcome Hungary to Molineux in matchday four of League A Group 3.

Gareth Southgate's side played out a drab goalless draw with Italy on Saturday night, while the Magyars impressively held Germany to a 1-1 stalemate.

We say: England 1-0 Hungary

The fact that England's only goal in the Nations League so far has come from the penalty spot simply demonstrates how much Southgate's players could do with a well-earned break, but Three Lions fans are growing increasingly concerned about their side's Qatar hopes with each passing game.

The potential introductions of Jude Bellingham and Conor Gallagher to the midfield could yet prove pivotal in England breaking the Hungary lines, and while a high-scoring encounter is surely off the menu, Southgate's side can finally post a long-awaited win before the summer holidays commence.

Germany vs. Italy (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Trailing their old rivals by two points in the UEFA Nations League standings, Germany welcome Italy to Monchengladbach on Tuesday, as two European heavyweights convene.

Following draws for both side at the weekend, they wrap up a frantic spell at the start of their respective League A Group 3 campaigns by meeting for the second time in less than a fortnight.

We say: Germany 1-0 Italy

While Italy have fared better than many expected at the start of their tricky transition from one generation to the next, they remain unconvincing in the final third and may not get on the scoresheet.

Despite a lacklustre record in the Nations League so far, Germany are further ahead in their development by comparison, and they can find a goal from one of several tried and tested sources up front.

Ukraine vs. Rep. Ireland (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Ukraine square off against Republic of Ireland in the neutral city of Lodz with the opportunity to maintain their 100% record in the UEFA Nations League.

At a time when they sit top of League B Group 1, Republic of Ireland are in second position after recording a much-needed victory over Scotland last time out.

We say: Ukraine 2-0 Republic of Ireland

While Republic of Ireland were hugely impressive last time out, the aforementioned selection issues will not do Kenny's men any favours. With that in mind, we feel that Ukraine will run out comfortable winners, potentially scoring a goal in either half.

Bosnia H'vina vs. Finland (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Bosnia-Herzegovina will aim to maintain their standing at the top of League B Group 3 in the UEFA Nations League when Finland pay a visit to Zenica for Tuesday's encounter.

Ivaylo Petev's side were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw in their weekend showdown with Montenegro, while the visitors' trip to Romania ended in a 1-0 loss.

We say: Bosnia-Herzegovina 0-0 Finland

Low-scoring contests have been the theme in this group so far, and we can envisage a similar affair between two sides who could barely be separated in the last meeting and are hardly the most fearsome outfits on the attacking front.

Kanerva has plenty of options to cover for O'Shaughnessy in his defensively-minded setup, and an entire 90 minutes may go by without the net rippling once in this contest.

Romania vs. Montenegro (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Romania will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins in the UEFA Nations League when they continue their 2022-23 campaign at home to Montenegro on Tuesday night.

The hosts are currently bottom of Group 3 of League B, boasting three points from their three matches, while Montenegro sit third, picking up four points from their opening three games.

We say: Romania 0-0 Montenegro

Montenegro recorded a 2-0 victory when the two sides locked horns on June 4, but we are expecting this match to be a lot closer. Both managers will be wary of losing the fixture, which could create a tight match, and we are predicting a goalless draw on Tuesday night.

Luxembourg vs. Faroe Islands (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Fresh off the back of picking up their first win at the Nations League, Faroe Islands square off with Luxembourg at the Stade de Luxembourg in Group C1 of the Nations League on Tuesday.

The hosts, who are currently second in the group standings, head into the game on a run of four consecutive defeats on home turf and will be looking to end this poor streak.

We say: Luxembourg 1-1 Faroe Islands

We expect Faroe Islands to put up a fight as victory here could see them move level on points with the hosts in second place. However, they have managed just one win from their last 12 away games and we predict the spoils will be shared with both sides settling for a point apiece.

Turkey vs. Lithuania (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Seeking to make it four wins from four and extend their lead at the top of Group C1, Turkey play host to Lithuania at the Goztepe Gursel Aksel Stadyumu on Tuesday.

The Rinktine, on the other hand, head into the game on a run of four consecutive defeats across all competitions and will be looking to end this dry spell.

We say: Turkey 3-0 Lithuania

While Lithuania will be looking to arrest their slump, next up is the stern test of taking on a rampant Turkey side who have hit their stride at the tournament. Looking at the gulf in quality and experience between the sides, and their contrasting form, we are backing the hosts to come away with all three points unscathed.

Liechtenstein vs. Latvia (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Latvia will be looking to claim a fifth consecutive victory when they travel to the Rheinpark Stadion to face Liechtenstein on Tuesday.

While the visitors sit top of Group 1 in League D, Liechtenstein are rooted to the bottom of the standings, having failed to register a single point across their three UEFA Nations League contests.

We say: Liechtenstein 0-2 Latvia

Liechtenstein enter the contest off the back of nine consecutive defeats, while Latvia are looking to clinch a fifth successive victory, and with the two sides current experiencing an opposite run of results, we think the visitors will claim all three points.
