It's been hard to see a week go by in the last decade without hearing or seeing a debate around Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, even with both now approaching the end of their respective careers.
The latest instance of that debate being sparked has come from Spartak Moscow's English-language Twitter account.
With Cristiano Ronaldo keen to leave Manchester United this summer, stories have emerged of clubs turning down the chance to sign him, including Bayern Munich. He has been linked with Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and others.
The news of the no.7 being turned down by clubs has provoked some reaction, including jokes at Cristiano's expense.
Spartak Moscow's pursuit of Messi
A year ago, with Lionel Messi available on a free transfer, Spartak Moscow's Twitter admin took advantage to share a viral image.
In a photoshopped DM conversation with Messi, the club shared a conversation in which they tried to speak to the Argentine, only for him to simply respond with a "no".
This time, they turned the tables. The same admin posted a similar screenshot, though this year the imagined conversation was opened by Cristiano, seeking a new club, and Spartak Moscow replied with a simple "no" rejection of their own.
