Solskjaer wants Man Utd criticism to "keep coming" ahead of Atalanta clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged critics of his Manchester United side to "keep coming" following their recent struggles.

The Red Devils won at Tottenham on Saturday, their first success in five games.

United have won two of their three Champions League games this term, but performances have left a lot to be desired.

Three points over Villarreal and Atalanta have come despite both teams dominating for large periods at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has seen his own job come in for questioning during a spell that saw Liverpool beat United 5-0.

The Norwegian's next assignment is a game in Italy against Atalanta, who squandered a 2-0 lead in their recent clash.

And he has called for those criticising his side to keep it up claiming he "enjoys" the response.

Solskjaer said: "Criticism can make you doubt yourself or you can stand up for yourself. I've always enjoyed it, keep it coming. We've all got different jobs and it is their jobs to give their opinion.

"I am not here to fight with anyone."

The United boss also claimed the wave of negative opinion has helped galvanise his squad.

"It has (produced a siege mentality)," he added. "We don't have time for anybody to sulk, if you're not in starting XI you are there to support your teammates.

"The attitude was spot on (vs Spurs). Players want to play, nobody is happy when they don't. It is the team before any individual."

United were booed off at half-time the last time they faced Atalanta before staging a second-half comeback.

A win in Bergamo will leave them on nine points and within touching distance of the knockout stages.

Solskjaer is yet to negotiate a Champions League group stage campaign with United slipping into the Europa League last term.

He is also well aware that Saturday's win will mean little if his side cannot put together a string of results.

"Next one is the one which matters," said Solskjaer.

"We know when we get consistency we will get results. One swallow does not make a summer. It is a chance tomorrow to prove we can go again."

Atalanta warmed up for Tuesday's clash by drawing 2-2 with Lazio.

Marten De Roon scored four minutes into stoppage time to salvage a point for the Serie A outfit, who have made the Champions League knockout stages in each of the last two years.

United are in the midst of a tough run of fixtures that will see them host Manchester City this weekend.
