Ruben Amorim rips into Man United players and 'damages TV' in furious rant

The Portuguese head coach was left so furious by his side's limp display that he caused damage to the big screen television in the Old Trafford dressing room.

According to The Athletic, the incident occurred while he was delivering his below-par stars a dressing down in the aftermath of Sunday's clash.

The defeat was Amorim's seventh in 15 matches since his arrival at the club in November.

It was also their fourth loss in five league games at Old Trafford, with the one win coming against Southampton.

The United boss was understood to be fiercely voicing his displeasure at his team and physically showing his frustrations.

Sources claim that the TV used to go through tactics before kick-off was caught as collateral and will require fixing before Rangers head to Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday.

Players were left shocked by the outburst due to Amorim's usual policy of remaining quiet in the moments that followed the full-time whistle, preferring to conduct a debrief the following day.

Amorim has adopted this approach throughout his coaching career but broke protocol against the Seagulls due to the manner of the defeat.

The Portuguese had hoped to see a better return on his early impact having previously revealed he is trying to shock his players and others at the club through his words.

Speaking after the defeat, Amorim summed up his side's torrid run of form and provided a damning comparison of the current crop against United's teams of bygone eras.

"In ten games in the Premier League, we won two," said Amorim.

"Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. So we are getting a new coach that is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.

"We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know that you want headlines, but I'm saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go, your headlines."

He continued: "I knew that it was going to be hard to put a completely new idea in at the moment but when you lose games and don't win three games in a row it becomes really hard. So that's why I'm telling you we are going to suffer because I will continue to do the same.

"To help my players is to give them the tools to play in this way but then without training it is really hard. You can feel it at the end of the game, everybody was changing position and that is something I will not see again. We can lose but we have to maintain our position.

"We try to have possession and control the ball, but the players are anxious. This is not acceptable."

United captain Bruno Fernandes who was on target from the penalty spot during the defeat expressed his frustration at his side's league poor form.

"I don't really get it at the moment," he said "We talk all the time about how difficult it is to play at Old Trafford. How can it be that Man Utd has difficulties to play at their home ground with the atmosphere that we have, with the great stadium and everything?"

United are back in league duty on Sunday when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on Marco Silva's Fulham.
