Pochettino admits to special policy for Messi, Neymar and Mbappe at PSG

Mauricio Pochettino claims Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar require "different" treatment compared to their Paris Saint-Germain teammates.

The Parc des Princes boss, 49, confesses he is less likely to substitute the superstar trio as they "can be decisive at any time" even when they are not operating at the peak of their powers.

PSG are blessed with what is arguably Europe's most-fearsome attack, with Messi arriving on a free transfer from Barcelona this summer to join forces with former teammate Neymar and rising talent Mbappe.

The Ligue 1 giants are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season, thanks largely to their immense firepower.

Pochettino is still searching for the best system to get the best out of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, but he explained why he is reluctant to ever take them off.

Discussing the trident, the Argentine told French outlet L'Equipe : "They are the best in the world. Why take them off the pitch?

"Even if they do not play as one expects, with their talent they can be decisive at any time. That is why the club made the financial effort it did to sign them.

"You cannot evaluate this type of footballer the same as others, because they are different."

Mbappe, 22, has set the standards for his fellow attackers this season with seven goals and 11 assists in 16 appearances in all competitions.

Messi, meanwhile, has struggled with injuries including bone bruising and a knee complaint, and he is still waiting to score his first domestic goal for the club.

However, the 34-year-old has been in fine form in the Champions League with three goals in as many games, including a brilliant strike against Manchester City.

Neymar, 29, has also spent some time on the sidelines due to a lack of fitness and an adductor issue, while he has three goals and three assists in Ligue 1.

Pochettino will look to his star-studded forwards to lead him to a glut of silverware this season, as he declared he is expected "to win" rather than "build a project".

"When PSG come looking for you, it is so that you adapt to an existing structure, to the players recruited, to get what the club wants," he added.

"What does PSG want? PSG want to win. Win the Champions League, the championship, the cup, all matches. We didn't come looking to build a project, asking what we needed to develop our ideas, or what we like."
