'No respect' - Simon Jordan takes swipe at English managers in John Eustace rant

talksport.com, 11 February 2025, 19:08
Simon Jordan has hit out at ALL English managers for exhibiting 'no loyalty or respect' amid John Eustace's potential new gig.

On Monday, Blackburn revealed that Eustace had sought permission to speak with another Championship club, although Derby has not been explicitly mentioned.

However, talkSPORT understands that Eustace has accepted the managerial role at Pride Park, feeling unsupported by the ownership of his current club.

Blackburn activated the release clause in his contract, which is thought to be in the range of £500,000 to £750,000.

Eustace is now poised to join the Rams, despite the 16-place separation between the teams in the Championship.

This decision has certainly left a bitter taste at Ewood Park and has struck a chord with Simon Jordan.

Former Premier League star quietly resigns from new job after just 20 days

Speaking on White And Jordan, he said: "He has wanted something that wasn't originally agreed upon because he is now in a position where his currency can parlay him into a different dynamic.

"He hasn't got it, and he's been given an option. And in a typical English manager's mentality, that option is, well I'll do whatever suits me best.

"No loyalty, no respect, no regard for the people that gave you that opportunity."

Jim White asked: "Are you putting all English managers in this category?"

Jordan responded: "I think there is a malaise that has developed among all English managers over the years, where they are institutionalized into a certain way of thinking which is rooted in a plan mentality.

"You look at your work ethic, the way you manage up; they've been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century by foreign managers showing and exhibiting a different kind of characteristic.

"I'm not suggesting that foreign managers should be their own group because they have their own challenges as well.

"I can tell you now, my gut feeling on this one is Eustace will reap the whirlwind; he'll get his (comeuppance) at Derby somewhere down the line.

"You can't behave this way; everyone gets served up in the end. Everyone gets what's coming their way."

Following the news, Blackburn released this statement: "Blackburn Rovers can confirm that head coach John Eustace has requested permission to speak with another Championship club, following the activation of a clause in his contract.

"The club is extremely disappointed by John Eustace's request to hold discussions with another club at such a crucial stage of the season, but this has now been reluctantly granted.

"With significant investment being made during the January transfer window, with six new additions, several of whom impressed during yesterday's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Wolves, the board and ownership feel the club is in a good position to challenge for one of the play-off places this season.

"With the squad bolstered, key players returning from injury, and Rovers currently in a strong position in the Championship, the club and players remain focused on achieving the best possible outcome this season.

"The club will make no further comment at this time."

The 45-year-old had previously spoken about the ongoing speculation regarding his future following Blackburn's 2-0 defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup on Sunday.

"I've heard rumours that there's been an official approach, so that's something I will have to discuss with the owners," Eustace said.
