Newcastle vs Wolves Match Preview

leaguelane.com, 25 October 2019, 14:26

Wolves are sporting a four-match unbeaten run in the first division, and are likely to give the erratic Newcastle United a run for their money on Sunday.

Newcastle United vs Wolves Head to head (h2h)

Their last clash ended in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams have found the back of the net together in their previous two games in a running.

Only one of their past five matchups have featured over 2.5 goals on the charts.

The finals scores have been level five times in their last twelve meetings.

Both Newcastle and Wolves have registered two wins apiece from their previous six encounters.

Newcastle United vs Wolves Prediction

Despite taking down Manchester United in their previous home game, the Magpies failed to recreate a winning performance in their last trip on the road to Stamford Bridge and came off at the losing end of a 1-0 scorecard. The hosts have come out on top just once in their past six games as well. And have garnered no more than five points from a possible fifteen in the process.

If it weren't for Norwich and Watford, Steve Bruce's men would have hit rock bottom in the table by now.

Wolves, on the other hand, are on a promising run at the moment, especially in the Premier League. The away side have not admitted defeat in any of their last four domestic clashes, the last of which saw them share the spoils with Southampton at home. Nuno Espirito Santo's side have not been showing any signs of slowing down on the road either, and are currently unbeaten in their last two league outings.

Their most recent away game, in particular, was one which deserves praise, considering that they slotted two unanswered goals past the reigning champions to walk away with all three points. With Newcastle boasting just one win at home so far, the evident favorites to win are undoubtedly Wolves.

However, the hosts have forced their foes to share the spoils with them in two of their last three games here. Given that two of the previous five outings for Wolves have also ended in a draw, the safest punt would have to be a double chance backing Wolves.

Furthermore, the visitors have been resilient at the back, and have kept a clean sheet twice so far in the Premier League. Meanwhile, the Magpies hold the record for the least number of goals scored on home soil at the moment.

Taking into account that Wolves have also netted just five times on the road, count on a low scoring affair in this one.

Newcastle United vs Wolves Betting tips

Double chance: Draw or Wolves @ 1.40 (2/5)

Under 2.5 goals @ 1.50 (1/2).

The momentum they have built, plus the home advantage for the day, coupled with the superiority they boast in h2h clashes should help them see through this challenge. However, they will need to tread carefully, as the Unicorns have a tendency to concentrate more on offense, even if their defense suffers.
