Bayern Munich are on the hunt for a new centre-forward after selling Robert Lewandowski and they could move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
The Bundesliga champions finally gave up hope of keeping Lewandowski at the club this summer and sanctioned his move to Barcelona for an overall fee of 50 million euros.
Now that that deal has been concluded, they have immediately set their sights on English centre forward Harry Kane who is linked with a move away from Spurs almost every summer.
They think that there is a deal to be done for the 28-year-old, as sporting director Oliver Kahn explained in an interview with Bild.
"He is under contract with Tottenham, but he is one of the best strikers out there, and he is a dream for our future," Kahn said. "Now we have to see how to put the team together for the current season, so we will see what happens."
Kane only has one year remaining on his contract with Antonio Conte's side which means that Bayern may look for a cheaper striker who can tide them over until next summer when they can sign him on a free transfer, assuming he does not renew with Spurs.
Bayern are not the first major European side to try and prise Kane away from Tottenham. Last summer, Premier League champions Manchester City made an attempt but Daniel Levy asked for 150m pounds.
City decided to pursue their interest in Erling Haaland instead who joined the club this summer. Kane has always been very clear about his desire to win silverware given his clear talent and he is yet to do so at Spurs.
One more trophyless season could see him pursue a move more seriously which will play into Bayern's hands.
