At the start of the season, Sky Sports and ITV announced that they had reached an agreement to show Championship and Carabao Cup fixtures free-to-air.

The deal commenced at the start of this month, with the first leg of the Carabao Cup tie between Arsenal and Newcastle shown for free on January 7.

Now, the Championship is going to take over, with it being an incredibly rare occasion for a second-tier game to be broadcast on terrestrial TV.

It was recently confirmed that Leeds vs Sheffield Wednesday would be the first match shown, before Middlesbrough vs Sunderland is also on ITV on Monday, February 3.

A total of five Championship fixtures are scheduled to be broadcast for free in the second half of this season.

As well as that, the second leg of Liverpool's Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham is also going to be on ITV on February 6.

Trevor Birch, Chief Executive of the EFL, said earlier this month: "The EFL is home to some of the most popular and exciting competitions in world football.

"And the competition for promotion places is already shaping up to be as competitive as ever across the three divisions as we head into the second half of the season.

"We are delighted that this agreement between the League, ITV and Sky Sports will open them up to an even wider audience, and would like to extend our thanks to both partners for making this possible."

Mark Demuth, Controller of ITV Sport, added: "We are delighted to continue our relationship with the EFL by broadcasting free-to-air fixtures for our viewers to enjoy.

"The Carabao Cup and Sky Bet Championship are staples of English football and I am sure fans will relish the opportunity to watch on ITV Sport."
