Salah out to score for eighth straight Premier League game

The Egypt international is now seeking to score in eight straight Premier League matches for the first time in his career, and if he manages that feat on Saturday, he will become just the second Liverpool player to do so after Sturridge.

The ex-Liverpool striker struck in eight successive Premier League matches during the 2013-14 campaign, coincidentally starting that sequence in a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in November 2013.

Sturridge then spent nearly two months out with an ankle problem, but he hit the ground running upon his return, netting against all of Stoke City, Aston Villa, Everton (again), West Bromwich Albion, Arsenal, Fulham and Swansea City.

The Englishman's streak was then snapped in a 3-0 win at Southampton in March 2014, when he failed to directly contribute to a goal, and he could now share his eight-goal throne with Salah by the close of play on Saturday lunchtime.

While the 12.30pm kickoff will mark the last Premier League derby at Goodison Park, Saturday's clash will see Slot take charge of a game against Everton for the first time, typically a daunting affair for newly-appointed Liverpool coaches.

Should Slot mastermind a victory on Saturday, he will become the first Liverpool boss to win their first Merseyside derby when it has taken place at Goodison Park since Kenny Dalglish in 1985.

Slot is already no stranger to smashing records in the Liverpool dugout, and another win on Saturday would take the Reds' points total to 38 points from 15 Premier League games, which would also be an all-time high for a new head coach.

Liverpool travel across the city still holding an unassailable lead at the top of the Premier League table, although both Arsenal and Chelsea managed to reduce their advantage to seven points in midweek.

Slot provided an injury update on six players in Friday's pre-game press conference ahead of his Merseyside derby debut, where Liverpool could also beat Everton for the 100th time in all competitions.
