Epic 3D simulation shows how 200m race between Usain Bolt and Gout Gout would go

talksport.com, 27 January 2025, 08:23
A 3D simulation has shown how a 200m race between Usain Bolt and teenage sprinting sensation Gout Gout would go down.

The Australian sprinter, aged 17, has taken the track by storm in recent months with the youngster tipped for an electric future.

But in a new simulation shared online by MotionAthlete, it gives us an insight into Gout's insane speed over the distance.

It uses a 16-year-old Bolt to compare with the young Australian.

Bolt clocks a time of 20.13 seconds individually over the half lap distance.

Although adding the 17-year-old to the mix, Gout Gout clocks a blistering 20.04s.

Up against each other, Bolt narrowly misses out to Gout, who's 20.04s time saw him finish first.

Despite taking the lead early on, Bolt fires round the bend to open up a three metre lead on the Australian.

However, shortly after, Gout hits another gear to close the gap in the final 50 metres and win a metre ahead of Bolt.

Widely regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time, Bolt's dominance in the 100m and 200m events earned him eight Olympic gold medals and 11 World Championship titles.

Known for his unmatched top-end speed and charismatic personality, Bolt set the world record for the 200m at 19.19 seconds in 2009 — a mark that still stands today.

Hailing from Australia, Gout Gout has been making waves in the sprinting world with his remarkable times at just 17 years old.

With an impressive 20.04s in the simulation, Gout is already being touted as a future star who could challenge records on the international stage.

Gout has already won a under-20 World Championships silver last year in Lima.

On top of this, his time of 20.04s in the 200m final at the 2024 Australian All Schools Athletics Championship was the fourth fastest U18 time in the world and the fifth fastest all-time by an Australian.

It made Gout just the second U18 athlete of all time to surpass Bolt's record in this category, also breaking the Australian record, held since 1968 by Peter Norman.

Gout continues to emerge as one of the brightest young talents in track and field.

"These are adult times and me, just a kid, I'm running them. It's going to be a great future for sure," said Gout, who will be 20 by the time the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles come around.

"I didn't expect it to be that fast but I guess I ran Australia's fastest-ever time in the 200.

"I have been chasing that record but I didn't think it would come this year. I thought maybe next year or the year after that."
