The European and South American giants drew 3-3 in extra-time with Les Bleus eventually losing on penalties, and French newspaper L'Equipe proceeded to hand out some brutal player ratings - including some stars who had no score at all.

France went 2-0 down after 36 minutes, with Ousmane Dembele and Olivier Giroud being taken off swiftly after.
Having not even made it to half-time, L'Equipe decided that the duo didn't even deserve a rating out of ten.

Their respective replacements Randal Kolo Muani and Marcus Thuram both received a 7/10, with France improving in the latter stages.
However, one of the biggest shocks of them all is the rating they gave to World Cup final hat-trick hero Kylian Mbappe.
Despite bailing out his country with three goals, the newspaper thought he was only worthy of a 9/10, rather than maximum points.
It will come across as a harsh decision, especially when he became only the second player to ever net a World Cup final hat-trick after Geoff Hurst for England in 1966.

Antoine Griezmann, who was superb all tournament, only got a 3/10, as did Theo Hernandez, who struggled at times during the match.
Champions Argentina, on the other hand, were given much more favourable grades.

Lionel Messi's two goals saw him get an 8/10, with Angel Di Maria earning himself the same rating thanks to his performance, despite being replaced on 60 minutes and therefore missing half of the entire game.
Goalkeeper hero Emiliano Martinez was also rewarded with such a score, having made some great saves during the match and in the shootout - although he perhaps deserved more after making a series of crucial saves in the latter stages and also saving spot kick.
It's clear to see that L'Equipe were far from impressed with what they saw from Didier Deschamps' side.
They were unable to retain their prestigious crown, with Argentina proving to be the better side on the night in a thrilling clash.
