Robert Lewandowski has made his wishes clear that he intends to play for Barcelona next season, but Bayern Munich have no intention of rolling over and have insisted they expect him to report for pre-season training.
The Poland international has told club bosses that he will not be back and has no intention of beginning pre-season with the Bavarian side.
However, in the absence of a deal with Barcelona, Bayern will not accept that and insist he must fulfil his contractual duties.
"Lewandowski has a contract until 2023 and we expect him on July 12 in Sabener Strasse," Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told Bild.
The same German outlet reported that in a meeting in Mallorca with club directors, Lewandowski expressed his firm desire to leave. The club's message was the same the as now, and they expect him to be present on July 12.
Bayern's demands too high for Barcelona
Lewandowski's mind has been made up for a few weeks now and he must hope that the two clubs strike a deal. He says he won't be back at Bayern, but an offer must be accepted first and there is a problem there.
Bayern are demanding 50 million euros, a figure that Barcelona, however much they want the player, simply cannot contemplate.
