Argentina faced Peru on Tuesday evening in a World Cup qualifier, in which Messi proved the star again after scoring twice in a 2-0 win.
But the Inter Miami talisman was at risk of being upstaged - by a young fan who ran onto the pitch.
The game was temporarily stopped as the pitch invader made his way to his hero.
Wearing a No10 Argentina shirt with Messi's name on his back, the youngster showed incredible guile to drift in between two security guards.
He outpaced one guard with ease before dodging another, dropping a shoulder and leaving both of them on the floor.

Even Messi became somewhat entangled as the two wrestled the youngster away and dragged him off the pitch.

Messi put on a show for Argentina on Tuesday night regardless, scoring twice to claim victory.
The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's first goal was also a piece of magic, scoring from a brilliant touch after ghosting into the box in the 34th minute.
It has kept up the Albiceleste's perfect record in World Cup qualifiers for 2026, with the reigning champions winning all four of their matches.
