Nmecha has been in sparkling form since returning to Wolfsburg from Manchester City on a full-time basis in July, firing himself into Hansi Flick's Germany squad with a team-leading five Bundesliga goals so far. The most recent of those rescued a 2-2 draw for the Wolves away at Arminia Bielefeld last Saturday, a result which left Florian Kohfeldt's side in sixth, just two points off Freiburg in third, and seven away from second-placed Dortmund. Kohfeldt has instituted a 3-4-3 since replacing Mark van Bommel as coach in October, and he will be relieved to be able to welcome back Frenchmen Maxence Lacroix and Josuha Guilavogui from suspension and injury respectively on Saturday, the pair making up two thirds of his back three alongside USMNT centre-back John Brooks. Behind them, Pavao Pervan is set to continue in goal in the absence of Koen Casteels.
Dortmund have won four of their last five games in the league, most recently a 2-1 win over VfB Stuttgart in which Marco Reus got the winning goal just five minutes from time. The goalscoring burden has been spread fairly evenly since Haaland plundered the last of his in a 3-1 win over Mainz on Matchday 8, with Stefan Tigges, Thorgan Hazard, Mats Hummels, Emre Can and the aforementioned Reus all getting in on the act for Marco Rose's side. How the coach assembles the various moving parts he has available to him remains to be seen, though, with Hazard recently joining a long absentee list which also includes Gio Reyna and now, potentially, Raphael Guerreiro. The Portugal left-back pulled a muscle in the warm-up against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday, so Nico Schulz is on hand to deputise. Marin Pongracic could come into the defence if Rose decides to match Kohfeldt's 3-4-3.
