The former Saint-Etienne and Nice manager replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the French capital, hoping to do what the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel couldn't at the club - win the Champions League.
And Fonte, who was Galtier's captain when they beat PSG to the Ligue 1 title in 2020/21, believes that the 55-year-old could be a great fit in Paris.
The ex-Southampton and West Ham star also believes the addition of Luis Campos as sporting director could be a huge bonus, with the Portuguese helping do the 'dirty work' at the Parc des Princes.
Fonte explained to talkSPORT: "Ancelotti tried, Tuchel tried, Pochettino tried, a lot of people have tried, so it's a tough one.
"What I do know about Christophe Galtier is that he's very experienced, a very, very good man-manager, a great personality. He has something about him, an aura, he's a very funny guy.
"He's very good at explaining to you what he wants from the team and what he expects from you.
"He knows French football better than most. He's very clever in how he deals with the press and how he deals with everything that surrounds him.
"And he has Luis Campos behind him as well, which is another strong point, which I don't think the other managers had.
"Luis Campos will be in the background sort of doing the dirty work for him and he can concentrate on the football pitch.
"He does have big egos and big players, so it will be a challenge to deal with all of them, but I trust that he is more than capable to do it.
"I really appreciate what he did for us and I know he has a lot of potential and quality to be a successful manager in PSG."
And, when asked what has gone over the last few years at the club - especially under Pochettino - Fonte explained what Galtier has to do to try and finally win the Parisians a European Cup.
"I think the problem is, in today's day and age, if you have two or three players that are not running back, you're not going to win against the big teams.
"Because Man City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, even Real Madrid last season - Benzema was doing the dirty work, tracking back - do, so if you have three players not tracking back, you're going to be in trouble.
"It doesn't matter how good you are going forward, you're going to be in trouble of conceding goals.
"So I think he needs to get them really solid defensively because, offensively, we know what they are capable of.
"Is that, is that something you look at when you play against PSG because they don't track, they don't track back."
