The Christmas schedule is always a hectic time with league fixtures crammed into the space of a few days, while clubs also have the added complication of European and FA Cup fixtures to contend with.
Of course, this season has been disrupted yet further with the Omnicron variant of COVID-19 wreaking havoc with the fixtures of several clubs.
As well as the logistics of carrying out fixtures, players and staff members have been rushed back to fitness in order to help their clubs fulfill the matches wherever possible.
While fans have enjoyed the amount of fixtures being played, they'll have to look elsewhere for their football fix as attention turns to this weekend.
Why is there no Premier League football this weekend?
Premier League clubs will enjoy a rare weekend off this week with no matches scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30.
This is part of the pre-arranged winter break to allow clubs a chance to have some time off before embarking on the rest of the campaign.
However that break isn't as straightforward as was originally planned.
Why is Burnley v Watford the only game on?
As a result of the pandemic, the two-week Premier League break will still see one fixture go ahead.
That match is the clash between Burnley and Watford that was rearranged after Covid cases in Sean Dyche's squad forced the game off.
As a result, that game will take place on Saturday, February 5.
As it stands, no other postponed games will take place over that weekend due to the FA Cup fourth round ties.
When will Premier League football return?
Premier League clubs will return from their break on the weekend of Saturday, February 5 when the FA Cup fourth round takes place.
That's also the day that the rearranged clash betwen Burnley and Watford will take place.
The top-flight will return in full on Tuesday, February 8 when Everton vs Newcastle, West Ham vs Watford and Burnley vs Manchester United will take place.
