When will the new Premier League season start and when is the World Cup break?

The last campaign was full of thrills and spills and the incredible title race between Manchester City and Liverpool that went down to the last day.

However, it wasn't just the league crown pursuit that provided excitement, as the relegation battle, Champions League race and Europa League hunt were all decided on the final day too.

So, the new campaign has a lot to live up to and with fixtures set to be released imminently, the build-up has already started.

When will the Premier League start?

The season will begin on Saturday, August 6 but there could be an earlier game on Friday, August 5 when the official broadcasters make their selections.

The campaign will then conclude on Sunday, May 28 to allow the extra fixtures to be fitted in with the break for the World Cup.

When will the Premier League take a break for the World Cup?

This season is set to be a bit unusual because of the Qatar World Cup, which will start in November and end just before Christmas.

Because of this, the top-flight will take a break with many players from all 20 clubs likely to be involved for their respective countries.

As it stands, there will be 16 Premier League rounds played between August and November 12/13. After this, the league will stop.

FIFA's premier tournament then gets underway on November 21 and will finish on December 18.

The Premier League will resume on December 26, Boxing Day.
