What Gabriel Jesus told Neymar before Man City's win over PSG

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has revealed what he told his Brazil team-mate Neymar before kick-off against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Jesus jumped off the bench to score at the Etihad Stadium as City came from behind to win 2-1 in their final Champions League group stage match.

Pep Guardiola's side were beaten 2-0 in the first meeting between the two sides in Group A and appeared to be on the way to a repeat when Kylian Mbappe blasted in the opener on the break.

City had dominated the first half but had nothing to show for it, with Ilkay Gundogan hitting the outside of the post with their best opening.

They fought back and got their rewards when Kyle Walker's cross was stabbed in at the back post by Raheem Sterling before Jesus bobbled in the winner from Bernardo Silva's deft touch.

Jesus came off the bench in the 54th minute to win it and he was chosen by the broadcaster for the post-match interview.

"Thanks to Bernardo, that's why I waited," he told BT Sport when asked about his winning goal.

"I know his quality. I can score, come in and help my team. That's what I want to do to try and help. It was a great ball, Bernardo.

"I told Neymar I can't let him play today because I know if I let him go to the goal he is dangerous so I stopped him because we had to win.

"We have a lot of players that can play well and win and our power is like this. Everyone wants to give a good ball and we try to score, nobody's selfish, they want to pass and win the game."

City certainly did their best to limit Neymar's opportunities to play on the counter-attack.

The hosts had the majority of the possession and allowed just two shots on Ederson's goal.

Neymar only came to the fore on two occasions, helping PSG break up the field before Lionel Messi set up Mbappe to make it 1-0.

The Brazilian star had a chance to get on the score sheet himself after another slick move, but he put the ball wide of the post with Ederson flying out to meet him.

City's win saw them go through top of Group A with 12 points, while PSG finished second on nine points.

Man City will now ready themselves for the visit of West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday as they look to close the gap to Chelsea at the top of the table.
